The Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, through the State Department for Water and Sanitation, invites all key stakeholders to a consultative meeting regarding the newly developed Draft Hydrologists Regulations, 2026.
The Hydrologists Registration Board (HRB) is mandated to oversee the practice of hydrology in Kenya. These draft regulations aim to address:
Registration and licensing of hydrologists;
Certification of hydrological studies and reports for hydraulic structures;
Recognition of hydrological programs and institutions;
Coordination of hydrological research, investigations and surveys; and
Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Stakeholders are encouraged to access the draft on www.water.go.ke or www.hydrologistsboard.go.ke. Written comments can be submitted to: registrar@hydrologistsboard.go.ke.

Regulating, coordinating and overseeing the practice of Hydrology in Kenya;
Promoting standards of professional competence and practice amongst hydrologists;
Certifying hydrological studies and reports for the design of hydraulic structures;
Coordinating research, investigations and surveys in the hydrological field;
Recognizing institutions that furnish a sufficient guarantee of academic knowledge of and practical experience in hydrology; and
Collaborating with other bodies or organizations in development of programs and facilities for advancement of hydrology and well-being of hydrologists.
Performing any other function that is incidental or consequential to its functions under this Act any other written law.
